A custom home build for her growing family propelled Michelle Burbidge into a career that she’d always had a passion for. As the face and Principal Designer for MBurbidge and Co., Michelle is best known for cultivating innovative designs that are as unique as the clients she serves.

Where do you get ideas/inspiration for new designs?

Exploring architecture is one of my favorite ways to get inspired. I love the idea that someone, somewhere, had an idea, put their pen to paper, and then brought it to life. It is that sense of ingenuity and purpose that propels my creative mindset.

Would you say that your designs follow a particular style?

Not really. I love transitional because it can be so inclusive, but I love and appreciate all styles and love to stretch my scope to create something unique.

Would you say that you have consistencies within your designs?

Quality will always be my number one focus with a splash of timeless elegance. I always try to incorporate special elements that tell a story – something small but significant. 

Tell us about your line.

Each piece in my line was designed with intention. Every element is an expression of the places that I have traveled, and details that have resonated with me.

What are you hoping to accomplish with your CIANA Studio line?

I hope that more people will have the opportunity to have something they love in their space that perfectly mirrors their style. Lighting is such an important part of completing a room and I am excited to help contribute pieces that help make a space feel like home. 

What are the feelings you hope consumers will experience as they hang an original MBurbidge and Co. light in their space?  

When a room is complete and finished, it’s ready for living. It’s ready for a party, it’s ready for a cozy night in. It’s ready for homework on the counter. I hope that when a M. Burbidge & Co. fixture is installed, the space will feel complete. Finished. Happy.
